Tasting notes
Lastly, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Leonis is all Cabernet Sauvignon from two vineyards, To Kalon and Caldwell (which is in Coombsville). Brought up in 85% new French oak, it’s a more medium to full-bodied, fresh, focused effort that still shows plenty of the sweet 2015 fruit, which is the hallmark of this vintage. Offering complex notes of red and blue fruits, white pepper, and spice, it gains depth with time in the glass, has sweet tannins, and a great finish. Drink it any time over the coming two decades.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Leonis is powerful and voluptuous in the glass. Silky tannins and lush, racy fruit give the wine its bold, flamboyant personality. There is plenty of depth to the dark fruit, chocolate, licorice and spice flavors, but ripeness feels like it may have been pushed just a bit too far. This is a decidedly flamboyant style.
The deep purple-black colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Leonis has a crème de cassis, blueberry pie and dark chocolate nose with hints of black earth, espresso, cigar box and tapenade. Big, rich and full with a lovely velvety texture and great freshness, it's long and spicy on the finish. A delicious blockbuster of a Cabernet!
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Cor Leonis is quite a bit richer and inkier than the 2014 tasted alongside it. Ample, creamy and deeply expressive, the 2015 captures all of the intensity of the year. Spice, new leather, crème de cassis, licorice and creamy, silky tannins all add to the wine's considerable appeal.
