Score 94/100 · Drink 2023-2034, Jeb Dunnuck, Sep 2023

Coming entirely the Yamhill Carlton District, the 2018 Pinot Noir Tightrope takes on a dark red ruby hue and is more brooding, with notes of baking spice, black cherry lozenge, and polished leather. Full-bodied, with a broad structure and velvety ripe tannins, it offers lush, mouth-filling fruit with notes of turned earth on the finish. It’s going to do well over the next 10 or more years and has a winter warmth in its sensibility. Founded in 2010 with the release of the 2008 Extrovert, Tendril Wine Cellars is a personal project for winemaker Tony Rynders, who was formerly the winemaker at Domaine Serene for over ten years. In addition to the Tendril label, he also has a more approachable category with his Child’s Play bottlings, also in this report. These wines were all tasted in their tasting room in Carlton.
