(a 75/25 blend): Dark ruby. Cassis and candied plum on the fragrant nose. Lush, open-knit dark fruit compote flavors show good energy and pick up a note of bitter chocolate with aeration. Finishes smooth and soft, with good length and gentle spiciness.

Score 86/100 · Drink 2011-2019, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Dec 2011

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2010 Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet offers intense cassis and blackberry notes with some chocolate box, dried roses and eucalypt. Medium-bodied and very crisp in the mouth with medium-firm grainy tannins, it has a long finish with some spiciness coming through. Drink it now to 2019+. The first vintage of the good value Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet was 1976. Back then it was labeled as “Claret” in reference to the style rather than the grapes. In September 2011, Peter Gago put together a vertical of the Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet, going back to the very first vintage. Importer: Treasury Wine Estates, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-4500
