Score 90/100 · Drink 1998-2010, Robert Parker, Aug 1995

The Clos de Vougeot Grand Maupertuis parcel owned by the Gros family is one of the most esteemed, situated at the top of the hill near Grands Echezeaux. The wine reveals a deep ruby color, a sweet nose of black fruits and vanillin, outstanding purity, medium body, and a rich, long, concentrated, moderately tannic finish. It needs 3-4 years of cellaring and should last for 12-15. The 1993s are successful, although two of the cuvees possess obtrusive tart acidity and high tannin. A Peter Vezan Selection (Paris fax # 011 33 1 42554293), various American importers.
