The 2017 Pinot Noir Iron Filbert Vineyard was made with about 15% to 20% whole cluster and aged 11 months in neutral oak. It has a medium ruby-purple color and opens with notes of tar and scorched earth, segueing to pure cranberries, blackberries, red and black currants and notes of charcuterie, dried flowers and amaro. The palate is delicate, pretty and bright, with pure red fruits and rose petal perfume, granulated tannins and a long, nuanced finish. This becomes more compellingly aromatic over time, so give it a good decant or a couple of years in bottle. 300 cases produced.

There’s impressive fragrance on the nose of this complex, youthful pinot that is full of forest wood, bracken and red fruit with crushed flowers, lightly meaty notes and fine, brown spices. The palate has terrific detail and depth with fluid build and fresh, fleshy fruit presence. Plenty to like here. Drink or hold.
