Full bottle 1,419 g. The fruit is from Oak Knoll District but the label just says Napa Valley. Aged for 18 months in French oak, 73% new. 480 cases produced. More ‘civilised’ than the Atlas Peak bottling from the same producer and rather appealing. Though with a dry, rather sudden finish. (JR)

All clone 337 from the estate vineyard on Atlas Peak, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the planting of a clone known for its structure in an AVA known for its tendency to produce structured wines. The cherry fruit and slightly medicinal herbal notes on the nose are actually quite attractive, and the medium to full-bodied palate appears reasonably supple at first, but the tannins grow on the long, dusty finish. Perhaps sufficient cellaring will result in some improvement.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Atlas Peak) is laced with hints of iron, red-toned fruit, rose petal, white pepper, slate and graphite. This intensely mineral, savory Atlas Peak Cabernet has a ton of character. It’s classic Atlas Peak all the way.
