Tasting notes
The entry-level Chardonnay, the 2018 comes all from Carneros and was brought up in 60% new French oak. It’s beautifully done and has a rich, Montrachet-like vibe in its orchard fruits, dried pineapple, toasted bread, and nutty aromas and flavors. It’s medium to full-bodied, has good density and concentration, and is well worth seeking out and drinking over the coming 4-5 years, if not longer.

The 2018 Chardonnay is gorgeous. Rich, creamy and voluptuous the 2018 is laced with hints of apricot, tangerine oil, mint and butter. The 2018 is powerful and rich yet it preserves terrific acidity. The Hudson Chardonnay is a blend of five parcels, all variants of shot Wente clone. That diversity works so well here. It spent 14 months in French oak, 50% new.
The 2018 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard was aged for 14 months in French oak barrels, 60% new. It delivers an incredible array of notes—grapefruit, peaches, fresh apples and pineapples with suggestions of ginger ale, allspice and marzipan plus a waft of clover honey. Full-bodied, the palate has a seductive texture and delivers mouth-coating stone fruit and tropical layers, finishing with great length. 1,706 cases were made.
