The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a clever reduction on the finely delineated nose; the aromatics indicate that this will need time. The lightly spiced palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh, leading to a cohesive and poised finish. I appreciate the concentration and depth of this Corton-Charlemagne, and it should age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru, taken directly from barrel, has a very clean, precise bouquet of lemon curd and white flower aromas that feel seductive already. The palate has some CO2 at the moment, but there is plenty of energy and lovely orange zest notes on the finish. This is often overlooked within the canon of Corton-Charlemagnes, but I find a lot of promise here.
