Tasting notes
(aged for 14 months in used French oak barrels of varying size): Lively aromas of fresh berries and incense, with olive and violet nuances in the background. Smoky and broad but lively on the palate, offering intense blackberry and cherry-cola flavors braced by a jolt of smoky minerality. This very dense, vibrant wine finishes on a spicy note, with excellent clarity and just a trace of tannins. An excellent value and, from my past experience with this wine, a Shiraz to cellar with confidence.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2013 Great Western Shiraz Bin No 1 is intensely scented of cassis, black plums and black cherries with hints of pepper, violets and cinnamon plus a slight cola character. Medium-bodied, the palate is quite elegant with a nice graininess to the tannins and long earthy finish.
