Dark and intense, the 2022 Pirouette smolders from the glass, mixing black olive tones with ashen stone and mentholated blackberries. It displays silken textures and admirable weight as a core of brisk acidity guides its ripe red and black fruits across the palate. The 2022 leaves a saturation of edgy tannins that pinch at the cheeks as hints of licorice and mocha fade.
An original partnership with Philippe Melka, Gilles Nicault has created a beautiful testament to its origins in the 2022 Pirouette, a Cabernet Sauvignon-driven blend with 30% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Barrel fermentation provides a backbone of supple tannin and age-worthy structure, with lovely cassis, oak spice, and tobacco vying for attention. Full-bodied, it’s built to age another 20+ years.
Broad and structured, this offers aromas of ripe blackberries, crushed walnuts and exotic spices, together with leaves and a hint of overturned earth. Compact and powerful on the palate, with big but integrated tannins, giving a seamless mouth-feel. Dark-chocolate notes in the long, textured finish.
