The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a powerful, ample wine. Black fruit, espresso, licorice, leather and chocolate are pushed forward. The ripeness of the year is very much evident, and yet this extroverted, potent Napa Valley Cabernet has aged well.

Dark cherry, plum, mocha, new leather and spice are all fleshy and generous in the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon. The natural richness of the year comes through effortlessly. At times, the 2015 is a touch heavy. Otherwise, it is very nicely done, especially considering the many challenges the growing season threw at winemakers.

A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and the rest Merlot from the Lewelling and Stagecoach Vineyards and aged 20 months in 60% new French oak, the gorgeous 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label offers everything you could want. Blackberry, blueberries, incense, sweet spice and dried flower notes all soar from the glass and it's full-bodied, incredibly opulent and mouthfilling, all while never seeming heavy or cumbersome. It's a big Napa Valley fruit bomb done with class! These beautiful wines are made by Jennifer Williams (formerly of Spottswoode) and come mostly from their estate vineyard in Coombsville. I was able to taste these wines on two separate occasions and they showed beautifully both times.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Label has a nose of fresh black currants and mulberries with hints of preserved plums, herbs and earth. The medium to full-bodied mouth is lively, firm and tightly knit at this stage, with grainy tannins and a long, earthy finish.
