Currently maturing in one-third new French oak, the 2022 Résonance Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from the old, own-rooted vines planted in 1981. “We don’t even have own-rooted vines in Burgundy anymore,” says winemaker Guillaume Large. “So we’re trying to keep these as long as possible without phylloxera.” Its aromas unfurl slowly, segueing from cranberry sauce, rhubarb and aniseed to mushrooms, autumn leaves and wildflowers. The light-bodied palate features concentrated yet detailed flavors. It has a tea-like astringency, vibrant acidity and a long, dynamic finish. 1,400 cases are expected.

Coming from own-rooted vines planted in 1981 in Yamhill-Carlton, the 2022 Pinot Noir Resonance Vineyard offers wonderfully layered notes of crushed fresh cherries, pine spice, sweet herbs, and forest earth. Aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak barrels and revealing a touch more body, it’s medium-framed, with ripe tannins and a light umami undertone, although it’s lovely and pure throughout. A very well-styled wine with good structure, it’s going to be worth snapping up from Jadot’s Resonance Estate, which is led by Guillaume Large. Drink 2024-2040.
