Tasting notes
The 2012 Rully 1er Cru Chapitre comes from the domaine’s 8-year-old vines. It is a little closed at first, but opens with gentle aeration to reveal wild hedgerow, brine and blackberry leaf scents that are well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a clean and ripe entry, a saline note lining the sides of the mouth and segueing into a surprisingly broody, but attractive finish. Very fine. Vincent and Celine Dureuil tend a total of 17 hectares of vine. Since 2001 they have avoided the use of herbicides and have taken steps first to organic viticulture and working by the lunar calendar. The white wines tend to see around 25% new wood, while the reds are totally de-stemmed and see around one-third. Importer: available through OW Loeb in the UK.
