Score 90/100 · Drink 2001-2007, Pierre Rovani, Feb 2001

The 1999 Puligny-Montrachet Les Caillerets, produced from a recently purchased parcel in the middle of the Clos du Caillerets, reveals white flower, spice, and saffron aromas. Light to medium-bodied, and filled with minerals and gravel, it is a well-concentrated, fresh, crystalline wine. Its elegant flavor profile is complete, yet lacks the depth of fruit required for greatness. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Importer: "Cuvee Unique" wines are Vezan/Hinkle selections for North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel (510) 848-8910.
