One of my favorites in the lineup from Winderlea, the 2018 Pinot Noir Legacy pours a medium red hue and is floral and attractive with aromas of rose petal, wild raspberry, and forest herbs. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a stony texture, it has a fresh lift and graceful feel overall. Elegant, refined, and long on the palate, it has a complete and seamless nature. It’s stunning on opening and will have plenty of room to enjoy over the next ten years. Drink 2023-2033. Co-owners Bill Sweat and Donna Morris biodynamically farm 41 acres, primarily to Pinot Noir, although they also produce Chardonnay and a small amount of Pinot Meunier, as well as sourcing some purchased fruit. They have been certified Biodynamic by Demeter since 2015. The wines for this report were tasted at their tasting room in July 2023.

Brilliant red. Spice-and mineral-accented raspberry and cherry aromas show excellent clarity and take on floral, earth and succulent herb qualities as the wine opens up. Concentrated yet lithe in style, offering juicy red fruit preserve, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that show fine definition and back-end lift. Finishes on a gently tannic note, with impressive, spicy persistence and resonating florality.
