(vinified with 50% whole clusters): Good full red. Expressive aromas of black raspberry, dark cherry and sweet spices. Not particularly fleshy but the stem element gives lovely cut and lift to the middle palate. This very attractive wine should offer relatively early pleasure.

(50% vendange entier ; 30% new oak): Bright medium ruby. Still a note of reduction to the very ripe black cherry aroma. Fat but not obviously sweet, showing more dusty earth and leather character than the Fixin wines today. Plump and textured but a touch herbal and dry-edged. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins. Comes across as a bit heavy-handed, but this may be passing through an awkward stage following the recent end of the malolactic fermentation.

The 2015 Gevrey Chambertin Clos des Chezeaux came from barrel, matured in 30% new oak with 50% whole bunch. It has a transparent and delineated bouquet: a veneer of blackberry and raspberry fruit but clearly visible underneath lies enticing granitic and wet limestone scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, plenty of crunchy blackcurrant and raspberry fruit, and a silver bead of acidity. There is an abiding sense of symmetry conveyed by this Gevrey Chambertin and it reeks of elegance on the finish without compromising an iota of its power. Excellent.
