Tasting notes
The 1995 Riesling Muenchberg exhibits a crisp, orange rind, mineral, and floral-scented nose, elegant, tart, light to medium-bodied flavors, and a dry, mineral-dominated, beautiful finish. It is a classy Riesling that should drink well for 5-6 years. This wine was tasted in May, 1997. I was unimpressed with Domaine Ostertag's Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc Barrique, and some of the lower level Rieslings, particularly the 1995 d'Epfig and Fronholz, but the wines reviewed in this segment performed well. Readers should recognize that the Ostertag wines are the antithesis of the Domaine Zind-Humbrecht wines, which Kermit Lynch also represents (only in California). Kermit Lynch's wines are available throughout the United States, with the import label "Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, California." Kermit Lynch's address is 1605 San Pablo Ave., Berkeley, CA 94702; tel. (510) 524-1524, fax (510) 528-7026. In France, the Kermit Lynch office is located in Beaune; tel. 011 33 3 80 24 70 96; fax 011 33 3 80 24 18 64.
