The 2018 Pierre de Montignac has an attractive blackberry and raspberry scented bouquet of fine mineralité and poise; the oak is nicely integrated here. The palate is crisp and lively on the entry. Yes, there is some oak that pokes out toward the finish, but hopefully that will be assimilated with 2–3 years in bottle. I’ll keep the faith.

Cru bourgeois supérieur.  50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot. Medium bodied with a fresh, elegant profile. Palate gentle and juicy with a light overlay of toasted oak. Tannins finely honed. (JL)
