Tasting notes
Porro's 2003 Barolo Lazzairasco, from the Lazzarito vineyard, is darker in color and presents a sweeter and more balsamic personality. Layers of spices, dark cherries and minerals flow onto the palate with terrific expansiveness, yet this wine also shows plenty of structure which should allow it to age gracefully.

Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. I was delighted to discover the wines of Guido Porro, a small artisanal producer based in Serralunga. The wines are neither filtered nor fined, and show a remarkable level of purity and clarity. Porro favors medium-size casks for aging. Importer: Kermit Lynch, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524
