Score 87/100 · Drink 2010-2013, Robert Parker, Aug 2010

The 2007 Pinot Noir Clos Pepe displays loads of cola/sassafras notes along with some plum and sour cherry notes. The tannin seems slightly elevated for the moderate amount of concentration the wine possesses. Stylish, elegant, and medium-bodied, it is best drunk over the next 2-3 years, as it doesn’t have sufficient depth to age very long. Adam Tolmach continues to dial back the intensity of his wines for reasons that escape me. The three Chardonnays I tasted were all certainly very good, but it seems to me that ten years ago they would have been even better. Tel. (805) 649-1674

Deep, bright red. Vibrant aromas of red berries, cherry and blood orange, with complicating notes of flowers and minerals. Fleshy, succulent raspberry and cherry preserve flavors are enlivened by zesty minerality and given depth by a slow-building, sweet cola quality. Turns more tangy and powerful on the finish, which leaves fresh redcurrant and raspberry notes behind. I like this wine's blend of vivacity and power.
