Tasting notes
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sleeping Lady is one of the bigger, more voluptuous wines readers will taste from this Yountville site. Dark red cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and dark spice notes infuse a sumptuous, racy Cabernet Sauvignon long on class. The 80% new oak adds volume and torrefaction signatures. Above all else, the Sleeping Lady is a wine of textural polish and total allure.

The pick of the litter, however, remains the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sleeping Lady Vineyard, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Yountville. Terrific mid-palate sucrosity, an inky purple color, spectacular blueberry and blackberry fruit, crushed rock, spring flowers and unsmoked cigar tobacco are all present in this deep, rich, full-bodied wine that should drink well for 20-some years at the minimum.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Sleeping Lady Vineyard has aged beautifully. It shows the more understated style of the year in its dark cherry fruit and espresso tones. This feels just a touch compressed today. The 2014 does show some elements of maturity, so I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later.
