La Morra. Maturing mid ruby with orange tinges. Lifted, complex raspberry nose with just a hint of oak. Really fine and inviting. Polished, fragrant raspberry fruit in the grip of finely chiselled tannins. Closes up and has much more to come. (WS)

The 2019 Barolo Riserva Rocche Dell'Annunziata pours a dark red brick color and offers a concentrated and very ripe profile, with notes of baked plums, melding spices, leather, balsamic, and resinous chewing tobacco. Full-bodied, it fills the palate with a deep, savory feel, fleshy tannins, and a grounding and ripe persistent finish. For my taste, it’s lacking in freshness, but it should hold up over the next 10 years.
The 2019 Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata is a very young wine, especially tasted next to the 2017 that is the new release. Dark, pliant and super-expressive, the 2019 offers notable textural richness and fine overall balance. It will be interesting to see how this embryonic, virile Barolo evolves over the next few years and beyond.
The 2019 Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata is a potent wine. The more floral, savory side of Rocche dell'Annunziata comes through in a deep, virile Barolo that drinks well today. As always, there's a bit more new oak in the Rocche than in the other Barolos because of the small size of Veglio's parcel.
