Tasting notes
A blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, the deep purple-hued 2024 Château Montviel offers rock-solid aromatics of ripe red and black fruits, spicy wood, and smoky, tobacco-like nuances. Medium-bodied and nicely integrated on the palate, it shows classy oak, solid mid-palate depth, and ripe tannins.

Deep ruby plum in colour, this is well structued with plenty of tannic character, austere with a focus on spice and leafy raspberry, more savoury than many vintages of this wine, but there are signature gourmet touches of black chocolate and espresso that give estate character.
The 2024 Montviel is plump, juicy and forward, all qualities that will be easy to appreciate on release. Succulent dark cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice and espresso fill out the layers nicely. This supple, fruity Pomerol offers plenty of near- and medium-term appeal.
The 2024 Montviel has a well-defined nose with slightly tertiary red fruit. It just needs a little more vigour. The medium-bodied palate is quite fresh and elegant with grainy tannins and well-integrated oak towards the finish. This is a pretty Montviel for early-drinking pleasure.
