Tasting Notes
Medium to full intensity in colour and full-on grilled oak character, which worked for me in both 2022 and 2023, but doesn't have the fruit to back it up in 2024, making it a more difficult wine to love. There is plenty of personality, but the charred impression is dominant. Christian Dauriac owner.

The 2024 Destieux is powerful but also rather burly in feel, especially in its tannins. Dark fruit, leather, tobacco, incense, dried flowers and licorice open with some coaxing. It's hard to get past the angular contours here.
The 2024 Destieux has quite a punchy bouquet with upfront blackberry and violet scents, though it just about retains delineation. The palate is medium-bodied and quite linear in style, but it lacks some substance on the finish.
Flowers, cinnamon, dried cherries, cocoa, and espresso form the nose, as well as shape what you taste on the round, fruity palate, ending with a heavy dose of oak in the creamy finish.
