Tasting Notes
Vivid ruby colour, tight tannins, cloves and lemongrass, slim in weight and fruit character, no cold soak but kept fermentation cool to around 26C, 30hl/h yield. Harvest 25 September to 5 October. 20% new oak. 30hl/ha. 3.56pH. The higher clay sections of the vineyard go into this, leaving the limestone expression for the main estate wine.

The 2024 Closerie de Fourtet is a very pretty second wine. There's more Cabernet Franc in this year's blend, which comes through in the wine's red-toned fruit profile. Blood orange, white pepper, chalk and slate add lift. The 2024 opens beautifully with time in the glass, suggesting a bright future ahead.
The 2024 La Closerie de Clos Fourtet is a plot selection from younger vines on clayey soils from the clos. This year it includes 20% Cabernet Franc. Picked from September 25 to October 5 and matured in 20% new oak, it has a pretty and light bouquet with red cherry, blackcurrant and graphite notes. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a simple but balanced raspberry- and black pepper-tinged finish. Fine.
Soft, elegant, fresh, medium-bodied, cherry, and plum-filled wine with light touches of chocolate, with just a hint of spearmint in the finish. This will be easy to enjoy in a bistro or cafe, as it is going to be delicious on release. The wine was made from blending 80% Merlot, with 20% Cabernet Franc. The wine comes from a parcel selection.
