Deep ruby colour, gentle raspberry and blackberry fruits, redcurrant, sage. Soft through the mid palate but this feels skilfully put together, and has some mouthwatering finesse on the finish. 3.5ph, 42hl/h yield, 75% new oak, 25% stainless steel vats, IPT60.

The 2024 Soutard-Cadet is supple and easygoing, with plenty of dark-toned fruit and the generous, open-knit personality to match. Blackberry, chocolate, spice, new leather, incense and espresso confer somber intensity. Tasted three times.

The 2024 Soutard-Cadet is powerful on the nose with blackberry and crushed strawberry fruit, a more extroverted style that retains delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet, slightly candied entry, fleshy with white pepper and cassis notes, though it needs a bit more complexity on the finish.

Flowers, espresso, cherries, plums, smoke, and cocoa form the complex aromatic profile. Medium-bodied, vibrant, energetic, red fruits, with lift, length, and purity in the mid-palate, as well as in the supple-textured finish. The wine blends 97% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine is aging in a combination of new, French oak barrels and amphora. Harvesting took place Harvesting took place September 28 - October 9.
