Score 92-94/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025

Black raspberries, juicy cassis, spicy wood, and chalky, floral notes all emerge from the 2024 Château Moulin Du Cadet, a medium-bodied Saint-Émilion that's nicely balanced, with ripe, polished tannins and integrated acidity. It's not massive, but it shines for its purity and elegance. Coming from a cooler, north-facing parcel of limestone soils, it has classic Saint-Émilion character and should have a broad drinking window. Tasted three times.

Soft purple-ruby colour, medium intensity, well measured with grilled vanilla bean and cedar aromatics, this shows careful progression through the palate, gentle red fruits, white pepper and cumin, the concentration builds slowly, in layers, but overall they have sensibly focused on a wine that doesn't need too long in the bottle before opening, think three or four years at most. 3.55 pH. 65 IPT. 75% new oak. 40 hl/ha. Harvest: 3 October. Tasted twice.

The 2024 Moulin du Cadet is a very pretty wine that balances the natural freshness of the year with the rich, textured style favored by Proprietor/Winemaker Marie-Benedicte Lefevere. Rich layers of dark red fruit, spice, cedar and tobacco build nicely in this resonant, super-expressive Saint-Émilion. All the elements are so well balanced. The 2024 is a total pleasure. Tasted three times.

The 2024 Moulin du Cadet has a clean, fragrant bouquet with lifted red cherries, wild strawberry fruit and nicely integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and focused with fine tannins, a keen line of acidity and just the right amount of dryness on the finish. It could well end up at the upper end of my banded score.
