Based on 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, brought up in 30% new 400-liter barrels, 40% once-used 225-liter and 400-liter barrels, and 30% older barrels, the 2024 Château Saint George Cote Pavie reveals solid, ripe red and black fruits, graphite, scorched earth, and loamy soil, with tobacco notes in the background. Medium-bodied, concentrated, and focused on the palate, with ripe tannins, it exempifies the juicy, lively style of the vintage.
Damson and plum, cocoa bean and liquorice, good quality, this has plenty of depth and grip, juicy signoff, Harvest 2 to 8 October. 30% new oak, 42hl/h yield. No Clos 1873 (from the same owner) in this vintage.
Flowers, mint, and red pit fruits work well in the perfume, and on the vibrant, fresh palate. The fruits are energetic, firm, and mineral-driven, allowing all the limestone to come through in the palate, and in the red pit-fruit oriented finish. The wine blends 85% Merlot, with 15% Cabernet Franc.
