Deep garnet-purple colored. Trots out of the glass with energetic notes of black and red currants, kirsch, and menthol, plus a waft of garrigue. The light to medium-bodied palate is pure and plush with great tension and an herbal lift on the finish.
More introverted and brooding than the previous vintages, the 2024 Pedésclaux reveals aromas of licorice, spices, oak and cassis mingled with notes of green bell pepper. Medium-bodied, supple and layered, it's lively with tangy acids and a firm chassis of tannins that lead to a short, spicy finish. This blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot is a rather compact Pédesclaux.
Cloves and white truffle dominate the opening moments of the wine, and this is sappy and slatey with plenty of bright blueberry and red cherry fruits, good depth and texture. A lovely wine, if shorter through the finish than in recent vintages. Harvest 24 September to 19 October. 3.66 pH. 30% new oak for ageing.
