Notes of raspberries and strawberries mingled with spices preface the 2024 Madame de Beaucaillou, a moderately weighted, round and supple wine with elegant tannins and a light core of fruit that leads to a fruity finish.

Beautiful clarity of fruit, delivering lean but vivid cherry and spiced savoury plum, with tannins that are present but not overly tight. Harvested around 35hl/h yield, then ended up in the bottle at 20-25hl/h yield, giving you some idea of the sorting needed to tease out the best wines of the vintage. Increased footprint of vines, with 20ha added from the purchase of Chateau Doroux, in Cussac Fort Médoc, but still the final amount saw around 50% of the usual production. 11% press wine. 3.6 pH. harvest 22 September to 10 October, 20% new oak.

The 2024 Madame de Beaucaillou is an attractive, aromatic Haut-Médoc from Bruno Borie. Dried herbs, mint and flowers meld into a core of bright red/purplish-toned fruit. The 2024 Madame is a very pretty wine with lovely forward fruit and ample depth for the year. This is a gorgeous offering that should come with an equally attractive price tag.

The 2024 Madame de Beaucaillou includes an additional 20 hectares rented in Cussac, although the volume is unchanged due to sorting. This aged in 20% new oak. This has a forward, rounded, sensual bouquet due to the contribution of the Merlot, lending it a Right Bank allure. The palate is medium-bodied with a bright opening. Tensile with fine sapidity, this just misses a little sustain on the finish. Otherwise, it should drink well over the next decade.
