Tasting Notes
Apple skin, a hint of peach and apricot. The fruit has a gentle and very natural sweetness to it, hinting at residual sugar – almost like the older style of Y d’Yquem. That impression of sugar gives the acidity something to play off and the effect is startling. Jasmine, honeysuckle too, grated fresh ginger and a little hint of saffron. A wine that seems to come from an entirely different vintage from the reds! Vibrant and refreshing. So juicy on the finish.

Notes of confit citrus, boxwood and flowers preface the 2024 Le Cygne de Fonréaud, a moderately weighted, lively and incisive wine framed by oaky notes and a long, minty finish.
Crisp citrus and white fleshy apricot fruit, plenty of lift and character, good quality, edge of sweet cloves and white pepper, saline finish. Harvest 5 to 15 September, 30hl/h yield. Chanfreau family owners, a great value choice.
The 2024 Le Cygne has a slight reduction on the nose, but there are attractive beeswax scents that develop with aeration. The palate is very pleasant with lime, peach and light mango notes, a keen line of acidity and a simple but bright finish. This is seductive.
About the producer

Situated at the highest point in the Médoc (at a huge 43 metres above sea-level), this estate is thought to be named after a spring on the site, from which Henry II supposedly drank (a “royal fountain”).
