Sage and white pepper spice, bright fruits, carefully balanced, leans into the vintage. Harvest 27 September to 7 October. 3.70 pH. Yield 16.72 hl/ha, the lowest ever after hail. They were on third year of organic conversion but chose to suspend this year. No second wine as a result also - they just really focused on the best of what remained. 30% new oak for ageing, in 500l casks, and amphora.
The 2024 Le Crock was picked from September 27 to October 7 at just 17 hl/ha. It is in its third year of organic conversion, so the mildew was acute. The Cuvelier family made the decision to discontinue and use minimal synthetic treatments instead. It has a straightforward, quite tensile nose with crushed stone filtering through black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, maybe just missing some depth and grip though there is ripeness on the peppery finish. Give this a couple of years once in bottle.
Flowers, garrigue, tobacco, and currants create the character here. Medium-bodied, quite fresh, and vibrant, the forward, soft-textured palate, finishes with crisp, chewy, peppery red berries. The wine blends 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot.13% ABV.
