Tasting Notes
Medium intensity ruby, redcurrant and cedar, highly perfumed aromatics, this starts off with an attractive kick of fresh fruits that are vivid, not stalky, but certainly high acidity with a mouthwatering signoff, balanced by sweet oak. Careful winemaking on display, slate texture tannins, no need to wait too long but there are hidden depths that will become more evident over ageing. Harvest 24 September to 8 October. Same family since 1998, Jean-Charles Sioen owner and estate director, living between Belgium and St Emilion. Cabernet Franc aged in amphora. Organic certified.

The 2024 La Marzelle has a touch of reduction on the nose, but I appreciate the brambly red fruit and blueberry aromas, well defined and in sync with the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fresh and quite structured if just a bit "stiff" on the finish. Hopefully it will gain a bit more suppleness during its élevage.
Medium-bodied, chocolate-covered plums, and cherries, along with a refreshing touch of mint provide everything this early-drinking, easy-to-like wine needs. The wine blends 80% Merlot, with 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Balanced and flavorful, this red proposes notes of red berries and baking spices on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins. Seductive, with a fruity edge and a round finish.
