Tasting Notes
Ripe red and black fruits, spring flowers, chalky minerality, and underbrush notes all emerge from the 2024 Château Croix Cardinale, a juicy, graceful, seamless beauty that's medium-bodied, with bright yet integrated acidity, wonderful purity of fruit, and outstanding length. It's a beautiful, fresh, focused, juicy wine that should have a broad drink window.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Opens with broody tar and damp soil notes, leading to a core of sour cherries and black raspberries with a waft of wet slate. The light to medium-bodied palate delivers good intensity with great tension and plush tannins, finishing with an herbal lift.
Subdued on the nose, a wash of smoked oak that is subtle and integrated even at this early stage, gentle black fruits on the palate, soft landings, unfussy. 35% new oak, 5% amphora, as of this vintage in several differently sized barrels. 37 hl/ha. Harvest 4 to 9 October, Decoster family owners. Ludovine Chagnon technical director. Second year in its own winery, reflecting that this is from a different section of the vineyard (here south facing slopes, clay limestone dominant). Julien Viaud of Rolland Laboratory consultant.
The 2024 Croix Canon is a fresh, vibrant wine that embodies the style of the year. Crushed flowers, bright red-toned fruit, chalk, mint and white pepper lend notable aromatic brilliance throughout. This mid-weight, floral Saint-Émilion is all charm. What a delight.
