Tasting Notes
Saline, with distinct notes of iodine and oyster shell too; almost a hint of smoky bacon crisps (an odd one I know!). White currant, gooseberry, greengage and maybe a little Mirabelle – but it’s fresher than that implies. There’s a little white pear too. Linden and lime. I like the lithe and sinuous mouthfeel accentuated by the sense of viscosity and I like too the trace of limestone tannin that helps shape the finish. This has me craving oysters, just as it should, though it’s perhaps not the most complex of vintages of this wine.

A blend of 67% Sauvignon Blanc and 33% Sémillon, the 2024 Carbonnieux Blanc reveals a slightly green, underripe bouquet of citrus, box and flowers. Moderately weighted and round, it's lively and framed by gentle tannins that lead to a phenolic finish.
The 2024 Carbonnieux Blanc is redolent of lemon peel, chalk, slate, mint and white pepper. This brisk, refreshing dry white bristles with tension and saline-infused energy. It will drink beautifully over the next handful of years, maybe more.
Love the juicy slate grip on the opening here, great quality and hard to argue with. Delivers personality depth and grip, harvest September 2 to 19, 3.1ph, 40hl/h yield, 25% new oak.
