2024 Cantelys Blanc

Tasting Notes
One can see the family resemblance with Smith Haut-Lafitte here immediately. This is rich and quite creamy, with lots of peachy fleshy substance and generous citrus acidity to prevent things from getting out of hand. A nice balance, if a bit of a fine wire balancing act – this is close to being too rich for my taste even in quite a fresh and crisp vintage like this. Linden and candlewax linger long on the finale.

Matured 40% in new oak, the 2024 Cantelys Blanc evokes aromas of boxwood, confit citrus and lime, followed by moderately weighted, lively and tangy palate, concluding with a white-fruit-driven finish.
Beautifully nuanced and grippy, white mango, good intensity through the mid palate, enjoyable with a saltine lift on the finish. 30% new oak. Harvest 11 to 19 September.
The 2024 Cantelys Blanc offers fresh grapefruit and lime on the nose, with good vigor and delineation. The palate has balanced weight, perhaps without the tension of the best dry whites but it has a composed and quite lengthy tropical-tinged finish. Fine.
