Tasting Notes
There’s an inkiness to this in the mid-palate that is rare and the freshness never threatens to become tart or astringent. Well-balanced if just a tad dry on the finish.

A blend of 58% Merlot and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2024 Cantelys wafts from the glass with aromas of dark berries, flowers, cassis and incense. Medium-bodied, sappy and supple, it's layered with powdery tannins and a lively, somewhat tangy mid-palate. In the context of the vintage, this is a great effort.
This is a cool vineyard site, prone to frost, and yet they have produced a totally charming 2024, with fresh blue fruits and soft spices, a little austrere on the finish. No longer Daniel and Florence Cathiard, now the Halfrich family, Harvest 28 September to 4 October. 30% new oak.
The 2024 Cantelys has a very floral bouquet with rose petal scents almost overwhelming the dark berry fruit aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and noticeable acidity, but the finish needs more flesh as it feels rather blunt and abrupt.
