A blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2024 Château Branas Grand Poujeaux offers notes of juicy red fruits intermixed with spicy, savory herbs and cedar pencil aromatics. Medium-bodied and nicely balanced on the palate, it displays good focus and present yet fine tannins.

Lovely inky colour, well measured extraction, but high acidities running through blueberry and cassis fruits that brings things swiftly to a close. Potential upscore in bottle. An estate with plenty of interest right now, lots of focus on working the vineyards. Arjen Pen owner.

The 2024 Branas Grand Poujeaux is terrific. Rich, ample and layered, this is very nicely done. Blue/purplish fruit, spice, licorice and lavender all build in the glass. The 2024 impresses with its depth and balance. This is a fine effort, especially considering the property suffered hail damage. Tasted two times.

The 2024 Branas Grand Poujeaux contains a little more Petit Verdot this year (10%) and it was picked from September 23 to October 5. It will then be raised in 92% barriques and 8% amphorae for an expected 16 months (50% new oak). This has a lively nose with blackberry, briar, light tertiary scents and a touch of iodine. This is well defined and shows more fruit concentration than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, powdery tannins that frame piquant black fruit laced with white pepper. Though not as persistent as other vintages, this is a well-crafted and characterful Branas Grand Poujeaux. 13.2% alcohol.
