Score 94/100 · Drink 2023-2043, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, Aug 2023

The 2018 La Tyre is made entirely from Tannat grapes grown on a beautiful sloping terroir of red clay that faces southwest. It matured for 48 months, with the first year spent in new barrels and the following years in wooden tanks. It reveals a fresh, pure bouquet with aromas of cassis, dark wild berries, flowers, spices and pepper, framed by nicely integrated oak. Medium to full-bodied, its deep core of fruit is underpinned by an imposing, rich texture with powdery tannins and lively acids combined with superb, controlled power. Compared to Château Montus and Château Bouscassé, La Tyre is distinctive, with a more precise character that leads to a pure, delicate and ethereal finish. I am excited to see the next vintages under the guidance of Antoine. Keep it for a minimum of 10 years.
