The 2018 Riesling Bernkasteler Doctor Auslese *** (White Capsule) –Auction– is deep, pure, fresh and crystalline on the refined, complex and concentrated, flinty yet enormously salty and aromatic nose. Silky textured, crystalline and finessed on the palate, this is an elegant, persistently salty, intense, enormously long and tensioned Doctor with a spectacular, still somewhat edgy and tonic purity and mineral/slatey grip. This Doctor is still sharp in its stony purity yet will for sure develop to another magnificent Doctor over the next one or two decades. Tasted twice at the domain in September 2020.
