Tasting notes
Roughly a 65-35 blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2019 Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Beatrix Red Wine features a characteristic tobacco-ash Cab Franc character on the nose, plus hints of red berries, cola and dark chocolate. It's full-bodied, slightly open-knit, plush and opulent, with a long, gently warming finish that hints of salted licorice. At 63 cases produced, I suspect one will have to be on the mailing list to have a shot at obtaining a bottle.

Deep purple, with a beautiful nose of flowers, coffee bean, chocolate, and both black and blue fruits, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Beatrix is full-bodied and offers some earthy, truffly nuances with air, followed by ultra-fine tannins, and just about perfect balance. The blend here is 65% Cabernet Franc and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Cabernet Franc really leads, showing incredible finesse and elegance. This is a tiny production cuvée, but it’s flat-out gorgeous.
