Tasting notes
Saturated purple-hued, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Sleeping Lady Vineyard is based on 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot and aged in 75% new French oak. Juicy currants, cassis, and black cherry fruit intermixed with graphite, crushed stone, and some bouquet garni nuances define the aromatics. It's rich and medium to full-bodied with ripe, present tannins and outstanding length. This cooler, valley floor site did well in 2022, and I see no reason this shouldn't have a solid 15 years or more of prime drinking. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Sleeping Lady Vineyard is a classy, polished wine for the year. Vibrant red-toned fruit, blood orange, mocha and dried herbs open in an effortless, finessed Cabernet that shows what was possible in 2022. There is a bit of edginess in the tannin, but that is a pretty small quibble in this challenging vintage.
Winemaker Melissa Paris blended in 5% Petit Verdot from another site (the maximum permitted) to the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Sleeping Lady Vineyard. Barrel-fermented and aged in 75% new French oak, this medium- to full-bodied wine boasts loads of fruit—blackberries, cassis and blueberries—tinged with mint. It's zesty and fresh, tight and focused on the finish. The tannins are ripe, heavily overshadowed by the wine's acids.
