Score 94/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2012

Aaron Pott's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Actaeon Quixote Vineyard bursts from the glass with tons of Stags' Leap personality. Juicy dark cherries, plums, currant, licorice, mint and new leather wrap around the palate as this deep, resonant wine shows off its considerable class and personality. The 2010 stands out for its striking inner perfume and fabulous balance. A deeply spiced finish laced with mocha, espresso and chocolate rounds things out in style. This is a super-finessed wine from Aaron Pott.

This is a super-finessed wine from Aaron Pott. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. I was deeply struck by Aaron Pott’s wines this year. The 2010s are terrific, but the bigger story, at least today, is how promising the 2011s are. Pott sources fruit from a handful of top sites, including Stagecoach (on the Pritchard Hill-Atlas Peak border), Quixote (Stags’ Leap) and Greer (Rutherford). Tel. (707) 226-3277

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Actaeon Quixote Vineyard has more depth and sheer richness than either the 2008 or 2010. Totally intense and powerful, it shows marvelous integrity through to the finish. It is a big, structured wine endowed with tons of expressive fruit and gorgeous inner perfume. Today the tannins are naturally quite imposing, but this is a dazzling wine nonetheless.
