2012 Pinot Gris Reserve Personnelle

The straw-yellow colored 2012 Pinot Gris Réserve Personnelle is slightly affected by noble rot and thus more rich and sweet than its 2013 successor. (The 2012 was harvested with 15.2% potential alcohol and finished fermentation at 14% and 20 grams per liter residual sugar.) The clear, ripe and rich nose is corresponding with the rich and mellow texture of thus succulent and opulent wine. However, the sweetish fruit is counterpointed by a classically piquant acidity which cuts through rich fruit like a knife. The finish of this firmly structured wine is long and salty and quite dry.
