Tasting notes
The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits-Monts 1er Cru has a heavily reduced nose that smothers the fruit at the moment, feeling a little static and lacking precision. It does improve with aeration, developing a light mintiness. The palate is slightly bitter on entry, though fresh with orange pith and tangerine notes towards the finish. But does it really deliver the complexity you expect from this site? Perplexing. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits-Monts 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, pressed rose petal and hints of peony. The palate is well balanced with a succulent entry, finely detailed with a precise, quite citrus-fresh and mineral-rich finish. This is quite excellent.
From another parcel farmed by Arlaud, the 2021 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts is a bright, vibrant wine evocative of plums, red berries and exotic spices. Medium-bodied, racy and precise, with lively acids and soft tannins, it's an ethereal, pretty effort that reflects its hillside origins.
