Tasting notes
Deep vivid ruby. Musky, assertively perfumed dark berry, cherry and floral scents are accompanied by building spice and succulent herb accents. Appealingly sweet and lively on the palate, offering juicy blackberry, cherry cola, lavender pastille and allspice flavors that spread out steadily on the back half. Shows impressive depth as well as energy and finishes long, sappy and precise, with fine-grained tannins sneaking in late.

Also Grenache-dominated, the 2017 Willow Creek Cuvée checks in as 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre that saw 30% stems and aging in 30% new barrels and puncheons. It's always slightly deeper colored than the Garnacha release and offers a great nose of pure black cherries, blackberries, singed cedar, ground pepper, and hints of chocolate. Beautifully textured, layered, and balanced, you can't go wrong with this cuvée, which will keep for upwards of a decade. This was another great lineup from Cris Cherry and these wines shine for their fruit and texture, and are always a joy to drink.
