Score 92/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Aug 2021

The 2017 Chablis Beugnons 1er Cru has quite an intense nose, with just a little SO2 reduction to contend with, although the very slight eggy aroma seems to dissipate, and quite spicy compared to other Vaillons. The palate is taut and fresh with a saline entry. This has plenty of vim and vigor, gaining depth toward the finish and leaving behind a saline aftertaste. Excellent. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. (NM)

Fermented in concrete egg. Clean apple fruit, leesy texture, lots of fruit concentration on the finish with a lovely jasmine-blossom scent on the finish. Very compact – needs time. 17+/20 points (RH)
