Score 91/100 · William Kelley (Robert Parker), Jan 2020

From a parcel planted in 1934 where the vines always produce tiny, millerandé berries, Duroché's 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin En Vosne unwinds in the glass with a youthful bouquet of dark berries, peonies, rich soil tones and woodsmoke, framed by a light touch of reduction that dissipates rapidly with aeration. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and lively, with a deep core of succulent fruit and powdery structuring tannins. Duroché has kept back this cuvée in his cellars with a view to releasing it with some bottle age, but he will exceptionally be releasing some of the 2016 later this year.
