Tasting notes
Deep, glistening red. Spice-tinged raspberry, cherry preserve and potpourri aromas are complemented by suggestions of succulent herbs and cola. Sweet and seamless on the palate, offering concentrated red fruit, floral pastille and spicecake flavors that are energized by suggestions of smoky minerals and blood orange. Shows excellent clarity and spicy thrust on the persistent finish, which features smoothly integrated tannins and resonating florality. (80% new French oak)

Lastly, this estate has tried their hand with Pinot Noir in the last couple of vintages and they’re making outstanding wines. The 2017 Pinot Noir Solomon Hills comes from a great site outside of Santa Maria and offers an impressive array of smoke cherries, forest floor, spice, and plenty of classic Santa Maria sous bois and savoriness. It’s a big, rich, mouthfilling expression of this vineyard.
