Score 16.5/20 · Drink 2025-2032, Jancis Robinson MW, Oct 2024

Dark-fruit flavours, plenty of leafy freshness and good density for the 2021 vintage. Relatively light in alcohol but doesn’t miss it. Has ageing potential. (AWH)

Aromas of raspberry, blueberry, violet, flowers and a touch of green pepper preface the 2021 Saumur Champigny Les Coudraies, a medium-bodied, satiny and ample wine with bright acids, powdery tannins and a long, mineral finish with hints of licorice. It was crafted from vines in clay-limestone soils.

The 2021 Les Coudraies is starting to drink well after a year in barrel followed by two years in bottle prior to release. It is supple and finely textured with chalky tannins that provide a gentle yet assured frame. This single-site 2021 provides red fruit flavors alongside floral notes, padrón pepper and a hint of smokiness.
